5th Annual 50 Target 3D Trail Shoot - June 4-5, 2011
10 targets more than the usual 40 targets make this a really fun shoot. It is a great way to warm up for the upcoming Greater Oregon Safari.
The kitchen will be open for breakfast and lunch.
Registration is 7:30 A.M.—11:30 A.M.
Adults -$20for 1 day and $25 for 2 days
Family-$30 for 1 day and $40 for 2 days
Youth (11-17)-$15 for 1 day and $20 for 2 days

Our Greater Oregon Safari was a huges success! We are looking into getting more Belt Buckles for winning trophies at next year's event. We are also working on plans to provide more overflow parking and camping.

Our December Turkey Shoot was canceled so that we may host the Pacific NorthWest Shoot Up Tour. This is a very big event that draws shooters from all over the Pacific NorthWest. This world class tournament is a seven leg event and we are lucky enough to be able to host the first leg at Cascadian. Please see the poster on our home page for more information.

SHOOT CANCELLATION NOTICE
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Vegas Turkey Shoot for DECEMBER has been canceled.

This does NOT affect the November shoot, which WILL still be held at the scheduled time and place, nor will this affect the Vegas Warm Up Money Shoot in January.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Welcome back from Hunting Season!

It's Election Time at Cascadian Bowmen! All positions on the Board of Directors are coming up for votes once again. This year we will have some vacancies that need to be filled.
Vacancies for the coming year are as follows;

Kitchen Supervisor

Outdoor Grounds

3-D Supervisor

Indoor Supervisor

Serving on the Board of Directors qualifies you and your family as Members Paid-in-Full during the time you are in office.
All positions are up for grabs every year, but these are the particular ones that will be vacated at the end of the year. If you want to run for any position on the Board, please send an e-mail to Cascadianweb@gmail.com stating the position you're interested in and some way to contact you. Submissions need to be in by October 28th to be placed on the ballots. Please be available to commit for at least one year.

Indoor League will be coming soon. Indoor will consist of 3-D & 2-D targets. Plans aren't finalized yet, but we will let you know when they are.

Newsletters were delayed by a glitch courtesy of a computer and should be sent out soon.

We would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Andrew from Las Vegas. Andrew came to visit for a while and during the time of his visit he did some roof work, installed two new bow racks at the 80 yard & 100 yard practice range AND repainted and repaired the yardage markers at our covered practice range. Thank You Andrew, we are very grateful for all you did!

The Greater Oregon Safari Shoot was a huge success! We had over 250 archers for one and both day shoots. Awards given were plaques and belt buckles as well as money for those lucky (or skillful) enough to hit the money dots.

There was an Ice Cream Shoot for the kids as well. They all lined up to take a shot at Peanut and all won a ticket for a free ice cream from the kitchen. You can see some of the pictures on our photo page.

The Kitchen was extremely busy as well and we would like to give a special Thank You to Sally Foster, Gladis Bearden, Tony Bearden, Penny Bearden, Janice Banks and Milly Sage. Thank you for contributing to helping the Kitchen run smoothly!!

Our next shoot will be the Halloween Fun Shoot on October 10 & 11. This will be a fun shoot with 20 3-D targets and 14 hand-painted targets. We will also have some Goodies in the Kitchen for the kids who come Trick-or-Treating!

June Update

The registration for the Greater Oregon Safari is rolling along. There will be a target sign up board located in the clubhouse, sign up for which target you would like to start with. There will be a Shotgun Start for this shoot.

Two raffles will be held, One for kids and one for adults. Among other prizes will be a minimum of 3 adult bows and 2 kids bows.

We will have 4 to 6 Money Dots this year. One of them will be on Peanut, our 3-D lifesize elephant.

There will also be a special Kid's Shoot for treats and kid's raffle tickets on Saturday at 4pm.

We are getting very busy in preparations for the Greater Oregon Safari Shoot!
Some of the topics at last night's meeting are;

The Kitchen has a need for some volunteers to help during the shoot.

We also need to have some spotters for the Money Dots on the range during the shoot.

Along with our Club Sponsors, we are also trying to get vendors set up with a tee shirt booth and an espresso booth.

Our raffle is expanding this year to include more adult and youth bows.

We have Belt Buckles in addition to our trophies this year. These are really nice buckles valued at over $100 each and will be awarded to the first place shooter in any class that has a minimum of 7 shooters.

In other news, we have a work party to help finish the preparations to the grounds on June 13 & 14. We will also have an early meeting on June 25th at the Clubhouse at 6:00pm to finalize details of the Safari Shoot.

If you are able to volunteer for any of the above events, it will count greatly towards your membership requirements!

The April Fools Shoot was a huge success with a total of 265 shooters!
Some of the more well received targets included the Hamms Bear that was in a hammock, the 'shoot through' pig that had shoot through material hiding the missing insert, causing you to hit the animal behind it, and the tube shoot.

In Other News, the club has purchased two carpet presses so that we can start making our own carpet bales. We have trialed carpet bales on our practice range and have found them to be less expensive than cedar bales and they last longer. Arrow retrieval is also considerably easier. We expect delivery of our presses in a month.

Security is still an issue at the grounds with destructive people who just like to damage things. If you see any behavior of this sort, please take down the license plate of the vehicle they are in and turn it in to any club director. In the meantime, we have located a 1/2 acre parcel of our land by the gate that is zoned for housing. We will be placing or building a dwelling there and will soon have a 24 hour on site person who will be able to keep an eye on the property and buildings.

April 18 & 19 there will be a special Redding Warm Up Shoot. This is a two day event with the entry fees being $20.00 for Cascadian members & $25.00 for non-members. The shoot will begin at 9:00am both days. For more information, contact Cabe at Spot-Hogg.

Money Dots are back! During our Safari Shoot we will place several Money Dots around the course. ANYONE who hits the Money Dot will share in a cash prize that will be awarded at the end of the Shoot on Sunday. The more Money Dots you hit, the greater your share of the cash prize! This does not require any special buy-in, it is open to everyone who is shooting, young and old alike! The number of Money Dots that we will use has still to be determined.

Which brings me to the next point... We need Volunteers to watch the Money Dots and take down the names of the shooters who have successfully hit the dots. At the end of each day you will bring the names to the clubhouse to add to the cash winners list. For all of you members that wish to add to your Member Work Time requirements, we will have a work party on May 16th & 17th at the range. We need help switching out some bales with the tractor, installing bow racks and repairing some backstops, etc. to get ready for the Safari Shoot. Come out one or both days if you wish and lend a hand, we could use the help.

During our work parties, some of the ranges will be closed. We always put up RANGE CLOSED signs to designate that particular trail as being closed, other trails are open for shooting. PLEASE RESPECT THE RANGE CLOSED SIGN and do NOT shoot on that trail until the sign is removed. There are people back there cutting trees, doing trail maintenance, putting up targets and various other tasks. It is extremely important that members do not shoot on closed trails or they could jeopardize their membership. Just because you can't hear us, doesn't mean we're not out there working. Let's keep safety our main priority.

There are trash cans placed throughout the trail system on our range. Please use them and do not litter. We have a beautiful range in a forest of tall trees, let's all help to keep it green!

Our next meeting will be on May 7 at 6:pm at Bowtech on Hwy 99. Meetings are open to any and all archery enthusiasts!

April Fool's Shoot will be held on April 4th & 5th. Good targets, good food, good times!
-no, this isn't a trick, there WILL be a shoot with 40 3-D targets.

Our indoor range has been fitted out with new bales, so be sure to step inside and take some shots at our 20 yard indoor range

The next meeting will be at Bowtech on Thursday April 2nd at 6pm. Come on out and let your voice and vote be heard.

Mindi, our Treasurer, has regrettably decided to step down as Treasurer to pursue other tasks. We appreciate Mindi's service to the club and look forward to seeing her at the shoots. On a positive note, Mindi has recruited Jonalee to replace her and the two of them will work together to provide the club with a smooth transition. So we bid a fond farewell to Mindi and extend a hearty greeting to Jonalee!

Slip & Slide 40 3-D target shoot is Valentine's day weekend! As the name implies, this promises to be a slippery shoot, so be sure to wear good traction on your feet!

After that, we have our Memorial 3-D Shoot on March 7 & 8.
The Memorial Shoot is a special shoot for us because we honor those fallen archers from our club and other clubs across the nation. At the end of the shoot we will have a target log. The target log is exactly that, a round cut from a log. This is an optional shot taken by those who wish to shoot an arrow in memory of a fallen friend. The log round will remain on the premises of the club and serve to remind us of those who were here before. As a reminder to any who wish to shoot the log, you will be shooting one arrow into a wooden log and there it will stay.

Greater Oregon Safari July 4 & 5
At last night's meeting, we discussed changing the dates for future Safari Shoots to the weekend AFTER the Fourth of July Weekend. Nothing is written is stone regarding this just yet and the Shoot IS going to happen on the Fourth of July weekend for 2009, so don't let me confuse you. We are still exploring this option and will decide at a later date. We need your input on this issue because after all, this shoot is for your enjoyment. On another note, we also discussed issuing some quality belt buckles from Montana Silverstone as first place prize in some of the shooting classes.
If you wish to try to win a belt buckle, you must shoot in one of the more populated shoot classes. For now, we are looking at issuing the belt buckles as first place prizes for shooting classes that have 8 or more shooters.

The kitchen is working hard with preparations to offer another steak dinner at this shoot, along with an improved menu of other delicious items including strawberry shortcakes.

Our Safari Coordinator is also working diligently at getting suppliers and vendors set up, so there will be plenty of shopping available. Please help us in supporting our sponsors by visiting their booths.

The purpose of the Cascadian Corner is to keep you abreast of current events and happenings at the club in conjunction with the monthly newsletter. The monthly newsletter is e-mailed to our members, but will also be posted on our site to be available to non-members of the club.
